The Los Angeles Lakers have always been tangled up with the biggest names in the game.
That’s why there’s no surprise that rumors have them going after Kyrie Irving in the offseason.
And while there has been plenty of talking about whether they should want him or not, former NBA player Cuttino Mobley believes it should be an easy decision for Rob Pelinka and his staff, as seen on FS1.

Mobley cites that Kyrie is a closer, which is something the Lakers have lacked as of late.
He also believes that he has a strong case for being one of the best offensive players in the league, adding that he could be the team’s No. 1 scoring option, with LeBron James being No. 2 and Anthony Davis being No. 3.
Mobley believes that the Lakers have enough depth and guys that could step up and round the team up if they sign Kyrie.
However, the issue with signing Irving is that they don’t have enough cap space right now, so ironically, getting him would mean sacrificing most of that depth.
Moreover, Irving is rumored to have a deal in place with the Dallas Mavericks already, and he’s going to demand a max contract in the offseason, which the Lakers may not be able to give him.
Kyrie and LeBron have had plenty of success together, and they reportedly want to team up again, but that would require Irving to take a significant pay cut or the Mavs to help him out with a sign-and-trade, which is unlikely at this point.
