The Dallas Cowboys finished the 2022 regular season with a 12-5 record, but ultimately fell in the divisional round of the playoffs.
This caused many around the league to question the legitimacy of the Cowboys’ season and people began to point fingers.
While many placed the blame on Dak Prescott, others questioned Mike McCarthy’s methods.
Emmanuel Acho, when appearing on Speak on FS1, had this to say about McCarthy.
“Without Aaron Rodgers, I don’t know who Mike McCarthy is,” Acho said.

McCarthy spent 12 years as the head coach of the Green Bay Packers before making his way to the Cowboys in 2020.
During his time with the Packers, the team only experienced three losing seasons.
His first season in Dallas resulted in a 6-10 record, before rattling off two seasons with 12-5 records.
However, he is 1-2 in the playoffs in Dallas, causing many to doubt his ability to coach at the highest level.
As Acho says, “Who are you without your best?”
He goes on to discuss Erik Spoelstra, who has made it to NBA Finals without having LeBron James or Dwyane Wade on his roster.
“His reputation can move drastically more than Dak Prescott,” Acho said.
While Prescott is also under the microscope this season, Acho believes that McCarthy will be under far more pressure.
He believes that, without Rodgers, McCarthy’s coaching can only take him so far.
The 2023 season could be a make-or-break campaign for McCarthy, especially given the weight of being the Cowboys’ coach.
This is a historic organization that used to be accustomed to winning.
Can they get back to those winning ways in 2023?
