The NBA Summer League is a time when many people overreact to how certain rookies play.
No one has come into the summer with more hype than Victor Wembanyama.
He was the number one overall pick and the most hyped prospect since LeBron James.
Wembanyama is 7-foot-3 and has the skills of a guard.
He can shoot, rebound, and block shots.
His skill set is something the NBA has rarely seen before.
But he is only 19 years old and there will be growing pains for him as he transitions to the NBA.
He has played his entire career in France and has to get used to a different style of play.
Wembanyama struggled in his first summer league game, shooting 2-13 from the field.
But Jason Timpf of The Volume defended Wemby saying he did not think it was the “ideal basketball environment.”

There seemed to be no game plan going in for the Spurs or Wembanyama.
He was just playing pickup basketball in which everyone was focusing on him.
Timpf mentions how Wembanyama was not utilized to the best of his skills.
He said that Wemby should be used as a ball-screener and in pick-and-pop situations.
But the summer league rarely has scripted plays.
There is no need to panic after one poor performance from Wembanyama.
It is not the first time he will struggle in his NBA career.
But the skill set is immense and he has a chance to be great in his first NBA season.
