The Los Angeles Lakers haven’t been the team they should be thus far this season.
Darvin Ham’s squad hasn’t found steady contributors, with LeBron James posting his usual numbers night in and night out, and the rest of the team coming up short.
D’Angelo Russell has had some solid games, and Anthony Davis has been great more often than not, especially on the defensive end of the floor.
However, after watching him put up just nine points and nine rebounds against the Sacramento Kings, NFL legend Michael Irvin had some things to say about it.
In the latest edition of Undisputed, Irvin talked about how LeBron James has taken Davis under his wing and how often other players don’t wait for things to be handed to them; they go and take them.

That’s why he wants Davis to finally take over, to prove that he actually wants it, as he believes that’s the kind of intangible that either you have or you don’t.
That has been the talk around Davis for the better part of his career, and after watching him take just 9 shots in a loss, you can understand why.
Davis isn’t a rookie or a young man entering his third year in the league; he’s a well-established veteran already.
So, maybe it’s time we stop asking him to be someone he clearly isn’t.
He’s not a leader, and that’s fine; not everyone has to be one.
He’s a great Robin, perhaps even the best in the league, and we need to stop pretending like that’s a bad thing.
