The New York Giants have had an interesting offseason and have temporarily solved their quarterback woes by signing veterans Russell Wilson and Jameis Winston, but that’s not enough to satisfy most fans who are still looking for the next young QB to get excited about.
This team still needs a long-term franchise quarterback in the worst way, and one analyst believes that one prospect could be a “high-upside option” for the Giants in the upcoming draft.
Gregg Giannotti of Boomer and Gio said Monday morning that Alabama quarterback Jalen Milroe could be a strong high-upside option for the Giants.
“He shouldn’t have come out, he’s not ready to play…he can sit there, he can learn, and if you watch Jalen Milroe, his highlights are mesmerizing.”

Giannotti compared Milroe to Anthony Richardson but mentioned that the problem with Richardson is that he was thrown straight into the fire as a Day One starter, which clearly hasn’t gone too well for him and the Indianapolis Colts.
Selecting Milroe and letting him marinate for a year or two would be a strong investment in the future, and he’d benefit from having two accomplished veterans to learn from in Wilson and Winston.
Milroe threw 16 touchdowns and 11 interceptions this past season with a career-high 2,844 passing yards while adding 726 yards and 20 more touchdowns on the ground.
The Giants are likely targeting Abdul Carter or Travis Hunter with the third overall pick, but Milroe could certainly be in play in the second round with pick No. 34.
New York could also trade back up into the latter part of the first round to take Milroe and lock in a fifth year of eligibility on his rookie contract.
There are plenty of options in play, but the bottom line is that this team still needs a high-upside young quarterback, and Milroe fits the bill.
