Last summer, the Charlotte Hornets chose Brandon Miller as the second overall draft pick, selecting him over Scoot Henderson, who went third to the Portland Trail Blazers.
At the time, Bill Simmons and Ryen Russillo thought the Hornets were making a mistake.
Now, they are taking back their claim.
On the latest episode of Simmons’ podcast, he and Russillo admitted they were incorrect when they said the Hornets should have picked Henderson over Miller.
“I’m gonna give it to us, though, for thinking Charlotte f—– up taking Brandon Miller over Scoot. Brandon Miller is awesome,” Simmons said, via /r/CharlotteHornets on Twitter.
“We were pretty adamant that this was an apocalyptic disaster and so far we’ve been dead wrong,” he added.

Last year’s draft was wild for a number of reasons.
Everyone was paying attention to Victor Wembanyama, the obvious first pick, who was chosen by the San Antonio Spurs.
After him, the draft remained very fluid right up until the event started.
Miller ended up being the second pick and there were many questions about him at the time.
Despite the worries from Simmons, Russillo, and others, Miller has succeeded in a big way in 2023-24.
He has averaged 17.2 points, 4.3 rebounds, and 2.4 assists, shooting 43.9% from the field.
The Hornets still have a long way to go before they are playoff contenders again but Miller is showing that there is reason to believe in the team’s future.
This is a squad that could be very exciting over the next few years.
The season is just about over for the Hornets, which means it’s time for fans to prepare for 2024-25.
And that means they are getting ready to see what Miller can do in his second year in the NBA.
