The Philadelphia Eagles have had a ton of success in recent years, most recently culminating in a dominant Super Bowl LIX victory over the Kansas City Chiefs, who were aiming to become the first team in NFL history to win three Super Bowls in a row.
While the Eagles’ stout defense and dynamic rushing attack were on full display during this championship run, the tush push remains a major key to their success, though if one anonymous team gets its way, that unstoppable play’s days might be numbered.
NFL.com’s Judy Battista shared that there is currently a proposal from one unnamed team to ban the tush push leaguewide.

This isn’t the first time something like this has been brought to the masses, as many fans have had gripes with the play for years as the Eagles have consistently leaned on their massive offensive line and powerful quarterback to turn any short-yardage play into a surefire conversion.
It’s puzzling to some fans why other teams haven’t tried to replicate the Eagles’ success, as while the Eagles call for the tush push anytime they need one yard or less, other teams around the league still opt to go for either a traditional quarterback sneak or a different play instead of giving the tush push a shot.
The Eagles have been adamant that the play isn’t against the rules, so if other teams want to do it, they should.
The other question is which unnamed team is making this proposal because if they’re on Philly’s schedule next year, they could be in for a heavy diet of tush pushes in retaliation.
