The Detroit Lions have made one of the most spectacular turnarounds in recent NFL history.
They were one of the bottom-feeders in the league for so long, struggling to put a .500 season together.
Even with Matthew Stafford at quarterback, this team couldn’t seem to find their footing, a point of contention among the fanbase for years.
However, the emergence of Dan Campbell as head coach has changed the team’s culture and chemistry, resulting in the dominant team fans have witnessed for the past two seasons.
Campbell has helped elevate the Lions to the next level, and he’s had great support around him to help make it happen.
So much so, that his offensive and defensive coordinators have been poached and have taken head coaching jobs with other teams.
Ben Johnson is now the head coach of the Chicago Bears, and Aaron Glenn has taken the New York Jets’ job.
Lions players seemed to have a lot of respect for both coordinators, as Amon Ra St. Brown outlined in his podcast, giving special props to Johnson, who helped him grow his game on offense.
“He’s one of the hardest working coaches that I’ve been around. Obviously I would want to have him in Detroit forever but that’s not the reality of things,” St. Brown said.

St. Brown recognized that his former coordinator was great at his job, a big reason why he left and took his talents elsewhere.
The Lions now have two holes to fill on their coaching staff, and it will be interesting to see how the team recovers in 2025 after losing these key pieces.
