For much of their series against the Houston Rockets, the Golden State Warriors have focused their attention on Jalen Green and preventing him from scoring.
On Friday night, it was Fred VanVleet who was causing a headache for Steph Curry and his team.
Following his big performance that forced a Game 7, VanVleet received a huge compliment from his teammate, Alperen Sengun, via ESPN.
“He’s amazing,” Sengun said of VanVleet. “We’ve been saying that for two years now. He’s leading us on the court, off the court.”
VanVleet was a force to be reckoned with all night, posting 29 points, eight rebounds, and eight assists, including an important three-pointer at the start of the fourth quarter.
He was hot from beyond the arc throughout the game, sinking six of his nine three-pointers.
VanVleet has been with the Rockets for two years now and has comfortably slid into his role as a leader and offensive threat.
He has stepped up in the postseason and is averaging 19.0 points, 3.7 rebounds, and 4.7 assists on 42.5 percent from the field and 42.9 percent from the three-point line during the playoffs.
Now the Warriors have a problem: how do they minimize all that Houston brings to the table for Game 7?
There are multiple offensive threats from Houston, and the Warriors will try their hardest to limit all of them.
But what if VanVleet, Green, Sengun, and others are shining brightly during Game 7?
Is there any way that Golden State can defend them all?
Right now, the Rockets are feeling confident, and they should be.
But can VanVleet and his teammates have two great back-to-back games to end the series?
