It was a fun night for the San Francisco Giants on Monday.
Opening a four-game series against the St. Louis Cardinals, San Francisco sent veteran right-hander Alex Cobb to the mound hoping to get back on track.
Cobb held a powerful Cardinals lineup scoreless and pitched a complete-game shutout to give the Giants a series-opening win.
Cobb struck out four Cardinals hitters, walked just one, and allowed only six hits, out-dueling St. Louis pitcher Jordan Montgomery.
On Twitter, the Giants posted a cool graphic featuring Cobb’s line from Monday to celebrate just how dominant he was against the Cardinals.

It was a solid pitcher’s duel for most of the game.
However, it was Cobb who emerged victorious as he completely dominated an otherwise robust Cardinals offense.
The Giants bats woke up in the seventh inning and put up a four spot on the Cardinals, which was punctuated by a three-run homer courtesy of J.D. Davis.
That put the game out of reach.
With the win, San Francisco improved to 9-13 on the season and stayed three games back of the Arizona Diamondbacks, who currently lead the National League West division.
Cobb also picked up his first win of the year and lowered his ERA to a healthy 1.91 mark.
The 35-year-old right-hander has pitched most of his career with the Tampa Bay Rays.
He joined the Baltimore Orioles in 2018 and was with the team through the 2020 season.
The veteran starter made a brief stop with the Los Angeles Angels before eventually joining the Giants in 2022.
