People were a bit shocked when the NBA introduced the play-in tournament a couple of seasons ago.
At the time, it was in the midst of confusion and chaos caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.
It’s now a staple of the league but it has many divided opinions.
Some people think it’s a waste of time and unfair.
Other people think it’s a great way to get the postseason started.
One thing is for sure: it’s not going anywhere.
Silver said the play-in tournament could potentially be tweaked, but expects it to be a fixture for the league moving forward. He’s very pleased with how it has gone through the first two seasons.

NBA commissioner Adam Silver recently commented on the play-in tournament and he seems quite happy about it.
He expects for it to be a fixture in the league moving forward and is very pleased with how it’s worked through the first two seasons.
One wonders what tweaks Silver has in mind for the tournament.
Play-In Madness
Right now, the play-in tournament has the teams seeded seventh through tenth competing against each other.
The winners of those games will then go on to play as the seventh and eighth seed in the playoffs.
Currently, the Minnesota Timberwolves, Los Angeles Clippers, New Orleans Pelicans, and San Antonio Spurs are set to battle it out in the West.
Meanwhile, the Cleveland Cavaliers, Brooklyn Nets, Atlanta Hawks, and Charlotte Hornets are lined up to play in the East.
It’s an extra hurdle to jump over for the teams in those positions and that’s why some fans don’t like it.
They have felt that things shouldn’t have changed and that the top eight teams should be guaranteed a place in the league.
Some players have spoken out against the play-in too.
But they better get used to it because Silver calls the shots and he likes the play-in so it’s here to stay.
