Saquon Barkley and the Philadelphia Eagles could make history this season.
However, they could also be thinking long-term.
The New York Giants are currently in a position to draft Shedeur Sanders with the No. 1 pick.
With that in mind, the Eagles could make things interesting for them when they play in the final week of the season.
At least, that’s what Adam Schefter thinks.
Recently, the renowned ESPN insider stated that they could sit Barkley and their starters, even if that means not being able to break the record in their matchup vs. the Giants, to make sure they lose that game.
If the Giants won the game, they would no longer be in position to draft Shedeur Sanders at No.1.

That’s diabolical and unsportsmanlike, but it does make sense.
Also, it’s not like this would be the first time a divisional rival has ruined a game to ensure another team in their division doesn’t get its way.
Needless to say, that would be a brutal blow for the Giants.
If they took Cam Ward with the No. 2 pick, they would still be able to acquire a star to build their franchise around, but Sanders offers much more than just stellar play.
The Giants have been at the bottom of the division this season, and they clearly need much more than just a quarterback to get back to relevance.
The Eagles, on the other hand, are in a position to be a legitimate Super Bowl contender for years to come.
Still, if they can keep their opponents and hated rivals down for a little longer, they should at least explore that possibility.
