The Washington Commanders went on the road and almost put up 40 points on the Cincinnati Bengals on “Monday Night Football.”
It was a coming-out party for rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels, who completed over 91 percent of his passes, threw for more than 250 yards and added two passing touchdowns in the 38-33 victory.
The Commanders reportedly were fired up to put on a good show because of what was said about their offense heading into the game.
“They were a little bit worked up about the fact that they have been called a simple offense. … I was told that they were pretty insulted by that whole thing and it became a real point for them,” ESPN insider Adam Schefter said on “The Pat McAfee Show.”

The Bengals thought the Commanders would be an easy matchup because they had a rookie quarterback coming into their stadium in prime time.
They thought wrong.
Washington now appears to be an emerging offensive juggernaut.
Daniels, the No. 2 overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, has a passer rating of 111.8 through the first three games of his career.
Top pass-catcher Terry McLaurin has posted more than 1,000 yards each of the past four seasons and reeled in four catches for 100 yards and a touchdown against the Bengals.
Running back Brian Robinson Jr. is more than capable of recording well over 1,000 scrimmage yards each year, and he has a solid veteran in the backfield with him in Austin Ekeler.
It doesn’t hurt to have a Pro Bowl tight end in Zach Ertz lining up on the line or out wide either.
With veteran offensive coordinator Kliff Kingsbury calling the shots, it seems like the Commanders offense is much more than simple.
