Earlier this week, new Denver Broncos head coach Sean Payton had some things to say about the team’s prior coaching staff and the way things were run during the 2022 NFL season.
Payton didn’t hold back in his criticism of former Broncos head coach Nathaniel Hackett and how disorganized things must’ve been in Denver, resulting in a very disappointing outcome for the storied.
Along with going in on Hackett and his coaching staff, Payton showed his support for superstar quarterback Russell Wilson, who was acquired by the team before the 2022 campaign.
Payton made it clear that he doesn’t think last season’s result had anything to do with Wilson’s poor play, which was another shot at Hackett, which isn’t sitting well with New York Jets superstar Aaron Rodgers.
After a failed stint as head coach in Denver, Hackett joined the Jets to become the team’s new offensive coordinator and join forces with Rodgers once again, who called Payton insecure about his recent critical comments about Hackett and company via James Palmer of NFL Network.
Here is Aaron Rodgers’ comments about Sean Payton and his comment about Nathaniel Hackett this week. Rodgers calls Payton “insecure” and says he should keep his coach’s name out his mouth. 👀👀👀👀👀👀 pic.twitter.com/7ISPvJBl5s

Rodgers has always been a major supporter of Hackett going back to their days together with the Green Bay Packers, and many believed his hiring in Denver was a way to try and convince Rodgers to come play for the Broncos.
Ultimately, the Broncos brought in Wilson instead of Rodgers, which obviously didn’t have great results.
It’ll be interesting to see if the bad blood keeps brewing and carries over into the regular season that will get underway in September, with these two teams set to go head-to-head in October.
