After returning to the New York Yankees this past offseason on a nine-year, $360 million contract, Aaron Judge was honored by being presented a unique and prestigious title.
New York named the reigning American League MVP their team captain, making him the first to have the title since the great Derek Jeter.
Last season, he broke the single-season record for the most home runs hit by an American League player.
Judge hit 62 homers and passed Yankees legend Roger Maris.
Today, however, is an important and special day for the slugger.
Judge is celebrating his 31st birthday today.
On Twitter, MLB Network celebrated Judge’s birthday by posting a collage featuring all 62 of his home runs last season with a caption that read “Halfway to 62!”

Judge achieved 62 in home runs last season.
Now, he is halfway there in terms of age.
The slugger certainly had a special season last season, as he helped guide the Yankees back to the ALCS for the first time since 2019.
Judge earned a Silver Slugger Award in addition to his MVP honors and also came very close to earning a Triple Crown.
That was not to be unfortunately, but Judge still had a fantastic season, which has earned him much more respect around the league.
It has also resulted in him becoming the new captain of the Yankees, being the first to have that honor since Jeter.
And so, today is a special day for Judge, as he celebrates his 31st birthday as the Yankees’ newest team captain.
