Last night, Toronto Blue Jays‘ slugger Vladimir Guerrero Jr. put on a show against the New York Yankees.
He carried his team on his back and hit three home runs and a double to secure a 6-4 win against the Bombers on Wednesday night, in one of the most impressive hitting performances we have seen in recent memory.
Guerrero finished the night 4-for-4 with three runs, three homers, four RBI, and a double.
He accumulated more than 1,000 feet worth of batted ball distance last night, and just couldn’t miss.
Oh, and all of his homers were against elite competition: he hit two off Yankees’ starter Gerrit Cole, the 2021 AL Cy Young runner-up, and one off Jonathan Loaisiga.
After the game, Yankees’ manager Aaron Boone had no choice but to praise the young man, even though his performance directly affected the Yankees’ win probability.
Boone Praised An “Otherworldly” Guerrero
“Aaron Boone on Vladimir Guerrero Jr.: ‘Otherworldly hitting … one of the best hitters in the world’,” MLB.com’s Bryan Hoch tweeted, quoting the manager.

Cole, who tipped his cap to the blossoming slugger (who finished second in last year’s AL MVP voting and would have won comfortably if it wasn’t for a guy named Shohei Ohtani), also had words for Guerrero.
“Did you see the night? If you had a cap, you’d tip it too. I mean, it got better after that, too. My goodness,” he said, per MLB.com.
After hitting 48 home runs and temporarily leading the three Triple Crown categories for a brief period last year, Vladdy seems determined to mash in 2022.
Could he finish with even better numbers?
Anything is possible for this supremely talented star.
