Detroit Tigers slugger Miguel Cabrera is looking for his 3,000th hit, but it will have to wait until tomorrow.
New York Yankees manager Aaron Boone took the bat out of his hands on Thursday, in what would have been his last turn of the game.
The Tigers ended up winning 3-0 against the Bombers, but when Cabrera was about to hit in the bottom of the eighth inning, Boone ordered his pitcher to intentionally walk him.
“Aaron Boone just intentionally walked Miguel Cabrera in what was likely his final plate appearance of the day. Oh my god,” The Athletic’s Lindsey Adler tweeted.

Cabrera Will Have To Wait Until The Weekend
Detroit got to the bottom of the eighth frame winning 1-0, and it would tack on two additional runs at that point.
Victor Reyes opened the inning with a double, and advanced to third on a Robbie Grossman single.
A Jonathan Schoop walk loaded the bases, but Jeimer Candelario hit for a double play that included an out at home.
With two outs and runners on second and third, Boone decided to put Cabrera on first to load the bases again.
Left-hander Lucas Luetge was on the mound, so perhaps Boone preferred to avoid the possibility of Cabrera facing a southpaw with men on base (he has a .963 OPS against lefties in his career, compared to .906 against righties).
Whatever the reason, however, Boone ended the afternoon as a villain in Detroit.
In addition to that, the next hitter, Austin Meadows, doubled to center field and brought in two important runs.
It wasn’t a good day for the Yankees, but Tigers fans eager to watch their idol get his 3,000th hit left the building unhappy.
