The Chicago Cubs were able to soften the blow of Willson Contreras signing with the St. Louis Cardinals by having quite an interesting offseason themselves.
Their biggest additions were Cody Bellinger, Dansby Swanson, Jameson Taillon, and Trey Mancini.
Swanson is off to a good start in his new uniform.
In fact, the 29-year-old is 10-for-17 to start the season.
That all adds up to a .588 batting average.
The star shortstop has yet to hit a home run, but has been swinging a hot bat as of late.
On Twitter, MLB Network took note of Swanson’s hot start to the season and revealed his stats.

In addition to his high average, he has driven in two runs, scored four, posted an OPS of 1.317, and an OPS+ of 262.
He has earned a Gold Glove, an All-Star selection, and a World Series ring over the course of his career.
Swanson signed with the Cubs on a seven-year deal after seven seasons with the Atlanta Braves.
So far, Swanson has performed quite well with his new team, which is a good sign for the Cubs as they look to bounce back from an 88-loss season in 2022 and return to postseason contention.
Chicago is off to a 1-3 start thus far, but Swanson’s bat has been a bright spot for the team.
Last season, the star shortstop hit .329 with 25 home runs, 96 RBI, 18 stolen bases, 99 runs scored, and an OPS of .776.
Swanson is off to a good start and will look to help the Cubs get out of their rut and start winning some games.NEXT: Marcus Stroman Makes Unfortunate MLB History
