When a team such as the Green Bay Packers is able to have the success it has had, a number of people behind the scenes help contribute.
One of them was scout Jesse Kaye, who passed away on Saturday at age 79.

He spent five years with the Packers from 1989 to 1994, a span during which they went from mediocre to respectful.
During Kaye’s tenure with Green Bay, they discovered a rookie quarterback who was floundering with the Atlanta Falcons named Brett Favre.
They traded for Favre prior to the 1992 season, and he would go on to make 11 Pro Bowls, claim three regular season MVP awards, and lead Green Bay to the Super Bowl championship during the 1996 season.
After Kaye was employed by the Packers, he moved on to the New York Jets, where he is best known for discovering another gem who would go on to become an all-time great.
In 2000, he figured that Tom Brady, then with the University of Michigan, would make a great pro quarterback, and he wanted director of football operations Bill Parcells to take him in the second round of the draft.
But Parcells said no, and Brady was taken by the New England Patriots, giving Parcells’ old friend turned adversary Bill Belichick the leading man for a dynasty that brought them six world titles.
Now, the Jets will try to win their first Super Bowl since the 1968 season with Aaron Rodgers, whom they recently acquired from the Packers, under center, along with a young and talented cast around him.
