As one of the greatest running backs in NFL history, Dallas Cowboys legend Emmitt Smith has a lot of fond memories both on and off the gridiron.
Even with three Super Bowl titles and a long list of accolades and accomplishments, Smith is a family man at heart and feels blessed to share the same birthday as his eldest son, E.J. Smith.
The Cowboys legend recently took to Twitter to wish his son a happy birthday and urged him to continue pursuing his dreams, which appear to be following in his famous father’s footsteps as a football player.
I have the privilege of sharing a birthday with my eldest son EJ. I am SO proud of the man that you’re growing up to be.
To another year around the sun—I love you, keep continuing to pursue your dreams.

E.J. Smith is currently a running back in his junior year at Stanford University and may have a promising career ahead of him if he is able to get back healthy in 2023.
The son of the Cowboys legend started off the 2022 campaign with Stanford on a high note, with his first carry being an 87-yard touchdown run, and although he showed promise, his season ended prematurely due to an undisclosed injury.
He rushed for three touchdowns and 206 yards on 30 carries in his first two games for Stanford before going down with the injury that ultimately ended his season.
Although he’ll likely never live up to what his dad was able to accomplish during his NFL career, E.J. Smith does have a chance to make some noise in 2023 if he is able to bounce back from his undisclosed injury and produce at the level he put on display in the two games he played.
