The NFL is chalk-filled with excellent coaches, and the playoffs are represented by some of the league’s best.
Here is a graphic that shows a very clear trend that is common among seven of the eight remaining coaches.

Besides Sean McDermott, who is defensive-minded, the other seven playoff coaches are offensive-minded, and each has a background in that area.
Let’s take a look at each one of their prior roles, and how they got to their current position as head coaches.
Doug Pederson started his career as a quarterback in the NFL and has since worked as a quarterbacks coach, offensive coordinator, and head coach.
Andy Reid has been an offensive line coach, quarterbacks coach, and head coach.
Brian Daboll has spent much of his career as an offensive coordinator but has also spent time as a quarterback and tight ends coach as well.
Nick Sirianni has also been an offensive coordinator, wide receivers, and quarterbacks coach.
Zac Taylor has been an offensive coordinator as well, also coaching wide receivers and quarterbacks.
Mike McCarthy has been an offensive coordinator, quarterbacks coach, and head coach.
Finally, Kyle Shanahan has been an offensive coordinator, quarterback, and wide receiver coach.
In the regular season, seven of the remaining playoff teams were among the top-ten highest scoring teams in the league, which demonstrates the strength and power of an offensive-minded head coach.
All of these coaches have extensive experience in coaching at the highest level and should provide a great playoff atmosphere over the next several weeks.
