New York Giants WR Golden Tate could very well have his own TV show with all that’s been happening in the past few weeks.
In the most recent episode of “Keeping Up With Golden Tate” or “Tate-gate”, he issues a public apology.
Tate’s Press Conference
To his credit, Tate did not shy away from the tough questions and was honest and remorseful.
He said that his actions were not done with the express purpose of getting him traded.
Rather, he admitted to playing with a lot of passion and getting caught up in the moment.
“I was wrong to draw attention to myself, and I take full responsibility for that. I handled it the wrong way and brought negative attention to our organization. It was something that won’t happen again.”
Benched Last Week, Tate Is Active This Week
New York Giants rookie Coach Joe Judge is being praised for his handling of the situation.
Recall that Golden Tate told anyone who would listen, including media and coaches, that he was not happy with the amount of targets he was getting.
Furthermore, his wife got in on the act by taking to social media to share her thoughts, which of course were surprisingly similar to her husband’s, on his situation with the Giants.
As a result, Judge made Tate inactive for last week’s game against The Washington Football Team.
Tate did not travel with the team so he was forced to stay at home and watch his team beat Washington 23-20.
Who knows what went on behind the scenes, but this week started with Tate back at practice as if nothing had ever happened.
Managing personalities is a big part of the head coaching job, and despite being 2-7, Judge showed that he is up to the task and is ready to move on from the incident.
“We’re kind of past that issue now. Golden’s getting ready to play Philly as well right now. I love the way he came to practice yesterday, I love the way he’s preparing so far today. . . We’ll roll him in fast.”
Is Tate Injured?
Things seemed to be moving along peacefully this week until Tate’s name popped up on the Friday injury report.
Tate was listed as questionable for Sunday’s game against the Philadelphia Eagles.
He reportedly suffered a knee injury late in the day on Thursday.
Doesn’t appear that this is going to be anything serious. At least that is the original belief. Not one of those instances where a guy blows out his knee at practice and everybody knows it on the spot. #Giants https://t.co/wPrdACKUqU

Fortunately for the Giants, in Tate’s case, the injury should not prevent him from playing.
#Giants WR Golden Tate, questionable because he tweaked his knee late in the week, is trending in the right direction to play, source said. He responded well to the benching last week, as well.

Giants’ Playoff Hopes
Because the Giants are playing in the less than competitive NFC East, the team still has playoff aspirations despite their 2-7 record.
The offense is dealing with injuries.
RB Devonta Freeman is now on injured reserve with a hamstring injury and high ankle sprain.
Recall that Freeman is RB Saquon Barkley‘s replacement; Barkley tore his ACL in Week 2 and is out for the season.
In addition, WR Sterling Shepard has been dealing a turf toe injury for the past couple of weeks and was limited in practice.
This means the Giants need Tate to be well and ready if they hope to win and contend in the second half of the season.
