The Philadelphia 76ers beat the Charlotte Hornets on Sunday, beating that team easily 131-113.
There were multiple reasons why the Hornets were taken down: James Harden was looking great and scored a double-double, Tobias Harris was in his bag, Shake Milton continued to impress, and the Hornets remain short-handed.
Oh, and Joel Embiid – no one can forget about his incredible and mind-blowing performance.

53 points.
Embiid scored 53 points and 12 rebounds in the huge victory against the Hornets.
This isn’t the first time this season that Embiid has exploded with these sorts of numbers but it’s still wildly impressive.
In fact, he is the first 76ers player with multiple 50-point games since Allen Iverson.
Embiid told everyone he was going to crush it this year and he obviously meant every single word that he said.
Embiid MVP?
When people discuss MVP candidates for this season, most talk about Luka Doncic of the Dallas Mavericks and Giannis Antetokounmpo of the Milwaukee Bucks.
Both of those guys are well-deserving of the trophy but maybe we should be talking about Embiid a lot more.
Embiid’s current career average is 26.4 points, 11.3 rebounds, and 3.4 assists and he’s producing 33.4 points, 9.8 rebounds, and 4.8 assists in 2022-23.
His field goal percentage is no 53.5%, which is quite impressive and a big step up from last season.
While the 76ers are still not as good as they should be, Embiid is on another level and is performing like one of the best players in the league right now.
Philadelphia is the 5th team in the East with a 14-12 record.
There have been rumors that the front office is pondering a change, maybe within the coaching staff, to capitalize on what Embiid is doing and give the team a better chance at greatness.
You can’t blame them for wanting to embrace Embiid.
