The Philadelphia 76ers are still without Joel Embiid, but their playoff hopes remain alive so they are making some minor adjustments in hopes of being competitive in the weeks ahead.
Shams Charania is reporting that the 76ers are signing guard Jeff Dowtin Jr. to a two-way NBA deal.
Dowtin has been playing for the G League’s Delaware Blue Coats this season and has put up 21.4 points and 7 assists during his last 12 games.
Dowtin has a history with 76ers head coach Nick Nurse, having played under him with the Toronto Raptors.
The Philadelphia 76ers are signing guard Jeff Dowtin Jr. to a two-way NBA deal out of first-place Delaware Blue Coats affiliate, sources tell @TheAthletic @Stadium. Dowtin, who played for Nick Nurse in Toronto, has averaged 21.4 points and 7 assists in last 12 G League games.

When playing for the Raptors, Dowtin averaged 10 minutes per game and sank 44% of his shots, averaging 2.4 points per game.
However, he only played with Toronto for just 25 games.
The Sixers are currently without Embiid, Robert Covington, KJ Martin, De’Anthony Melton, and Kelly Oubre Jr.
Because they are short-handed due to injuries, Dowtin might be able to make an impact on games.
However, there is also a chance that 76ers fans never see the guard player for the team and he could remain in the G League due to the nature of his contract.
The 76ers just waived Kenneth Lofton on Friday night, which opened the door for them to sign Dowtin.
Philadelphia probably won’t make any other adjustments to the roster now that they have waived Lofton and signed Dowtin.
They are the fifth-best team in the East with a 34-25 record but are hoping to climb higher in the final weeks of the season.
There is still no definitive timetable for Embiid’s return, which will obviously greatly impact the strength of the team.
