No team needed a bye week more than the San Francisco 49ers.
Following an impressive five-game winning streak, Kyle Shanahan’s side dropped three consecutive games, raising doubts about Brock Purdy’s potential to lead the team and whatnot.
Losing All-Pro LT Trent Williams and WR/RB Deebo Samuel to injuries took a big toll on their offense, struggling to protect the quarterback and create gaps for Christian McCaffrey.
Purdy didn’t look as sharp as usual with that much pressure on his shoulders, committing critical turnovers in every game.
However, despite all the things they went through in the last month, Samuel told Kay Adams that the Niners’ confidence remains unwavering right now.

The Niners will get Samuel back for Sunday’s contest vs. the Jacksonville Jaguars, which will obviously give them a massive boost going forward.
Samuel’s versatility and dual-threat skill set allow the Niners’ offense to run countless formations, either using him as a premium decoy or actually giving him the ball to allow him to do his thing in the open field.
Facing the up-and-coming Jaguars will be a tough challenge, but they’ll have a prime reinforcement of the field after trading for pass rusher Chase Young, who’s playing for a contract after being traded by the Washington Commanders.
The Niners got a full week to heal and restore their bodies and go back to what worked for them through the first five weeks of the season, and it wouldn’t be wise to count them out with all the talent they have.
