The San Francisco 49ers simply cannot escape the injury bug in the backfield.
After losing All-Pro running back Christian McCaffrey and backups Jordan Mason and Elijah Mitchell for the season due to injury, head coach Kyle Shanahan has now lost another running back.
According to ESPN senior insider Adam Schefter, rookie running back Isaac Guerendo will likely be out against the Miami Dolphins this weekend due to a hamstring injury.

The 49ers are on the brink of playoff elimination at the moment.
At a record of 6-8, it has been a disappointing season for a team in the Super Bowl a season ago.
Now, insult has been added to injury, as the bread and butter for the 49ers’ offense is the running game.
It looks like veteran back Patrick Taylor Jr., who has spent time around the league on practice squads and active rosters alike, could get the starting nod Sunday.
Taylor has never started a game in his four seasons as an NFL player.
If a team can overcome injury challenges on the field, it could very well be the 49ers, given their physical and aggressive style of play upfront.
The loser of this game between the 49ers and Dolphins will likely be eliminated from playoff contention, and the season will essentially be over.
Look for Shanahan and Co. to do whatever it takes to try and squeak out a victory on the road across the country.
