The 2023-24 NBA season is about a month away and a lot of eyes are on the Miami Heat as they try to add another superstar to their roster.
The Heat have always loomed as a threat to land a disgruntled star player and that’s the case again as they’ve been the team most heavily linked to Damian Lillard.
Lillard asked out from the Portland Trail Blazers earlier in the offseason and Miami immediately tried to engage in trade negotiations.
So far, though, the Trail Blazers have been resistant to any package the Heat have offered which means the latter will need to get more creative if they hope to land Lillard.
Complicating matters further is that Portland hasn’t shown much interest in acquiring Tyler Herro back in a potential deal.
However, there are several teams that are willing to act as a third trade partner and take back Herro via Jake Fischer of Yahoo Sports.
The Jazz, Bulls, Hornets and Nets are teams expected to show interest in Tyler Herro, per @JakeLFischer

For Portland, taking back Herro doesn’t make much sense as they’ve already got a young trio of guards in Scoot Henderson, Shaedon Sharpe, and Anfernee Simons to build around.
Shipping Herro out to a third team makes the most sense, and the Utah Jazz, Chicago Bulls, Charlotte Hornets, and Brooklyn Nets all could use a scorer of his caliber on their respective rosters.
Herro is a former Sixth Man of the Year who has steadily improved every year he’s been in the league and could feasibly assume more offensive responsibility on the right team.
If Miami is adamant about acquiring Lillard, then they’ll likely need to find a taker for Herro in exchange for more assets.
