The Indianapolis Colts should have plenty of money to spend in free agency and have obvious areas of concern heading into the summer.
The Colts are expected to have the second-most cap space in the league with $88 million available to use.
Free agency looks like it is going to be loaded with talent, so the Colts should take advantage of their extra money and spend big this off-season.
Assuming the Colts do spend big in free agency, where should they use their $88 million?
1. QB Concerns
The Colts are rumored to be looking to add depth at quarterback this summer whether it’s through trade, free agency, or possibly the NFL Draft.
Free agency is looking like it is going to be loaded with veteran quarterbacks that would immediately help the Colts roster.
Players such as Philip Rivers, Ryan Tannehill, and even Tom Brady.
There’s also younger quarterbacks like Dak Prescott, Jameis Winston, and Teddy Bridgewater that are expected to hit free agency as well.
This would be the best chance for the Colts to immediately upgrade at the quarterback position without having to make a trade or hope their quarterback is still around in the draft.
By my (profoundly) unofficial count, there are 15 established, name-brand quarterbacks in some state of limbo as we approach free agency. That seems like a lot.https://t.co/5LsNctUExJ

The Colts don’t appear to have too much faith in Jacoby Brissett as the long-term quarterback.
Indy has the money available this summer to make a splash in free agency and shouldn’t waste it.
They have the funding and ability to go out and sign a franchise quarterback that could immediately help the organization.
These kind of opportunities aren’t available every season, so this would be a perfect chance for Indy to make a big signing at the quarterback position.
2. Lack of Depth at Tight End
The Colts have decided to part ways with Eric Ebron after a disastrous 2019 campaign.
They have veteran tight end Jack Doyle locked up long-term, but need to find depth at the position.
Indy has the money to make a splash this summer and sign a top tier tight end like Austin Hooper in free agency.
They could even go after Jacob Hollister, Delanie Walker, or Blake Jarwin if Hooper is out of their range.
Tight end is a position of great importance in the Colts' offensive system. Here are some guys they could add in free agency to play with Jack Doyle.https://t.co/8HQMDrZt3E

The Colts window to win is right now and they have the money to bring in talent to upgrade the position.
Indy was ranked towards the bottom of the league in passing offense last season, so something needs to change in 2020.
Signing a guy like Hooper is going to cost a lot, but he’ll immediately make this roster much stronger in the passing attack.
The Colts could sign Hollister or Jarwin to fairly cheap deals and both players showed strong signs of improvement in 2019.
3. Lack of Pass Rushers
The Colts are in desperate need of a pass rusher this off-season.
Luckily for them, free agency is expected to be loaded with experienced pass rushers that would be immediate upgrades to the roster.
Players such as Jadeveon Clowney or Dante Fowler would be huge additions to the Colts roster.
The Colts have plenty of money available to go out and get a long-term lock-down pass rusher to help upgrade their defense.

Adding a player like Clowney or Fowler can completely change a defense.
It’s not often that these type of superstar pass rushers hit free agency, so the Colts should jump on this opportunity while they can.
The Colts have multiple areas to fix before the 2020 season and there’s only so many game-changing players in the draft each season.
Indy has the money to make a big splash this summer and put together a championship-caliber team if they make the right moves.
The time is now for the Colts to be aggressive in free agency and sign some top tier talent.
