It’s one thing to become a star in the NBA and maintain that level of play over time, but it’s another thing to raise one’s game to an even higher level.
This season has already seen a number of players elevate their production to new heights, but these two stars have especially garnered attention and recognition for playing arguably the best basketball of their lives.
Anthony Davis – Los Angeles Lakers
Davis has been a great player for a number of years, and he has eight All-Star appearances and four All-NBA and All-Defensive team selections to his name.
But over the last two seasons, he has been criticized, even by fans of his own team, for being lazy and passive, as he has been riddled with injuries and seen his production drop.
But so far this season, Davis seems to be back to the level of production he displayed during the Lakers’ 2019-20 championship season.
He is averaging 26.3 points, 12.8 rebounds, 1.6 steals and 2.2 blocked shots per game while shooting 57.0 percent from the field, and he is coming off an incredible run of four straight contests with at least 30 points and 15 rebounds.
Anthony Davis’s Last 4 games (3-1):
37 PTS – 21 REB – 5 BLKS – 5 STLS
30 PTS – 18 REB – 3 STL – 2 AST
38 PTS – 16 REB – 4 BLK – 2 AST
37 PTS – 18 REB – 2 AST35.5 PPG & 18.2 RPG 🤯🤯

Donovan Mitchell – Cleveland Cavaliers
As a member of the Utah Jazz, Mitchell was a very good player who made three straight All-Star games and had a number of big performances in the playoffs.
But so far this year, he has taken things to a new level with the Cavaliers, averaging 30.0 points and 5.4 assists a game on 50.1 percent overall shooting and 42.5 percent from 3-point range, all of which are career highs.
Mitchell has combined with fellow All-Star Darius Garland to give Cleveland arguably the best backcourt in the NBA, and together, they have made their team into a possible championship contender.
