The MLB offseason is set to kick off on Thursday, with many big names looking for a large payday on the open market.
Free agency has always been a great way to build a championship roster.
As most star players usually hit the open market looking for the most lucrative payday.
That is no different this offseason.
Some of the biggest names in the sports will be wearing a new uniform come next season.
The pitchers in this free-agent class are loaded, including multiple former Cy Young winners.
Without further ado, here are two MLB teams who need to sign an ace this offseason.
1. Los Angeles Dodgers
The Los Angeles Dodgers are coming off of one of the most disappointing seasons in franchise history.
After winning 111 regular season games, the Dodgers lost to the Padres in the NLDS.
Now as they get set for free agency, they have plenty of holes they need to fill.
LA has Clayton Kershaw and Tyler Anderson as free agents, along with Walker Buehler out next season after getting Tommy John surgery.

They need another starting pitcher.
While they might bring back Kershaw, the Dodgers should also be interested in Jacob deGrom, Carlos Rodon, or Justin Verlander.
The Dodgers are always big spenders in free agency and that should once again be the case as they address their starting pitching.
2. St. Louis Cardinals
The St. Louis Cardinals have not had a true ace in some time.
While Jack Flaherty has looked like one at times, he is constantly injured.
The starters last season in St. Louis were Jose Quintana, Miles Mikolas, Adam Wainwright, and Dakota Hudson.
It has become obvious that they need an ace.
After getting upset by the Phillies in the Wild Card round, the Cardinals should be addressing their starting pitching.
Some contract projections for #STLCards pitching targets from The Athletic:
Rodon – 5 yrs, $160M
deGrom – 4 yrs, $148M
Verlander – 2 yrs, $87M
Bassitt – 3 yrs, $67M
Eovaldi – 3 yrs, $57M
Quintana – 2 yrs, $32M
Kluber – 1 yr, $12M
Wacha – 1 yr, $9.5Mhttps://t.co/SWe0CbiCo6— Brandon Kiley (@BKSportsTalk) November 9, 2022
All of the big-named starters on the market should be targeted by the Cardinals.
That includes deGrom, Rodon, Kershaw, and Verlander.
St. Louis needs to make a splash, and signing any of these starters will do just that.
