The 2025 NFL Draft delivered its usual mix of surprising picks and trades, but behind the scenes, some unexpected shenanigans were taking place.
Quarterback prospect Kyle McCord found himself dealing with more than the typical draft day nerves as his phone kept ringing with questionable intentions.
The former Ohio State and Syracuse player recently shared his frustrating experience before he was ultimately selected by the Philadelphia Eagles.
“Eagles rookie QB Kyle McCord says he received multiple prank phone calls during the draft, answering every single one, hoping it would be the real thing. When Eagles GM Howie Roseman called him in the sixth round, McCord assumed it was just another prank call,” Dov Kleiman wrote on X.

The prank calls unnecessarily complicated what should have been a pure moment of celebration.
The No. 181 overall pick, McCord enters an Eagles quarterback room featuring starter Jalen Hurts, Tanner McKee and Dorian Thompson-Robinson.
His path to the NFL follows an outstanding 2024 season at Syracuse when he set an ACC record with 4,779 passing yards while guiding it to 10 wins and a bowl victory against Washington State.
McCord finished with 34 touchdown passes but also threw 12 interceptions.
