The Chicago Bears might have found their long-term answer at quarterback in Justin Fields.
After largely struggling in his rookie year, Fields broke out in 2022 as he looked much more comfortable passing and running the football.
Now heading into 2023, the Bears appear ready to build the franchise around Fields as they’ve invested resources into bringing in impact players on both sides of the football field.
Offensively, Chicago went out and added DJ Moore to go along with Chase Claypool and Darnell Mooney while defensively they have a stalwart linebacker in Roquan Smith.
The young talent on the Bears roster is impressive, but they are still a couple of pieces away from truly competing in the NFC.
To that end, it seems as though they’re looking to improve quickly as they’ve reportedly inquired about Kansas City Chiefs star defensive lineman Chris Jones via Todd Fuhrman of Bet The Board.
“And I’m not insinuating a trade’s coming, but I know the Bears have called about Chris Jones because they want to be all in, I guess, on Justin Fields’ rookie contract,” Fuhrman said.”
Jones has been waiting for a new deal for the Chiefs and without any progress on talks it appears that trading him could be a real possibility.
The Chiefs star was the best interior lineman last season and was a large reason why the team was able to capture Super Bowl LVII.
Chicago has the cap space and resources available to swing a deal, though it remains to be seen if Kansas City would really part with Jones.
