The 2023 NBA Finals are yet to begin, but that doesn’t stop all the off-season rumors coming and going day in and day out.
The Dallas Mavericks are expected to be one of the busiest teams this offseason, as they have many questions to answer regarding their roster.
It’s clear that they’re keen on keeping Kyrie Irving on the roster beyond this season, and whether that happens or not, the Mavs will keep building around Luka Doncic.
However, the Mavs are focused on re-signing Irving, and if they have to part with him, they reportedly won’t be willing to help another team in a sign-and-trade.
According to Marc Stein, via NBA Central, Dallas is not interested in a trade involving D’Angelo Russell.

Russell was heavily criticized for his underwhelming performances against the Denver Nuggets in the 2023 Western Conference Finals.
The Los Angeles Lakers are reportedly ready to move on from him.
Recent reports suggest that Fred VanVleet and Trae Young are on the team’s radar too, but LeBron James would most likely favor a move for Irving.
The Lakers would have to work some magic since the Mavericks aren’t interested in helping Irving go to a different team via sign-and-trade.
The Mavericks know that losing Irving for nothing would be painful, and they will do whatever it takes to keep him.
