The New York Yankees have fallen on hard times in recent weeks.
Midway through the month of August, New York now finds themselves a game below the .500 mark and still in last place in the American League East.
At 14 games back, their hopes of a division title are all but lost, though they are still alive in the Wild Card race.
And as things continue to go south for the Yanks, a former prospect who spent time in the organization revealed something very important, that the Yankees organization had begun to prioritize analytics over results.

On Twitter, a fan commented on the prospect’s recent claims.
1. There is probably truth to what Ben Ruta says. Why would he lie?;
2. The question then becomes if the #Yankees are unique in their approach or if it is commonplace;

Ben Ruta was in the Yankees organization from 2016-20.
He criticized the Yankees organization for not teaching baseball and fundamentals and prioritizing things such as analytics.
On Twitter, the fan discussed Ruta’s claims and stated that if what the former prospect is saying is true, then it’s a bad look for the Yankees.
These days, analytics are a huge part of the game.
However, as the fan notes, it would be interesting to know if the Yankees approach was unique or simply commonplace around Major League Baseball.
The Yankees have reached the postseason each year since 2017, but have yet to win a World Series since 2009, much less even appear in one.
Ruta’s claim about no baseball being taught certainly is not a good look for the Yankees, and it’s something that may need to be addressed if things continue to go south for the Yankees this year and in the future.
