The Golden State Warriors wouldn’t be what they are nowadays without Klay Thompson.
While Stephen Curry gets most of the credit — and rightfully so — and Draymond Green does most of the talking, Thompson’s value for the dynasty has been astronomically high.
Thompson was so vital to this team that they didn’t even make the playoffs in the two years he was hurt with major injuries, and they went right back to the NBA Finals with him on the floor, even if he wasn’t the best version of himself.
That’s why it’s not much of a surprise to see that team owner Joe Lacob is looking forward to signing him to a contract extension, as he recently told Tim Kawakami of The Athletic (via NBA Wire).
Joe Lacob speaks about Klay Thompson's contract extension with the #Warriors:
"We'll see if we can put something together that allows Klay to be here for a long time, which we clearly would like him to be."

The Warriors want to make sure that Thompson stays with the team for the long run, and it’s just a matter of time before they work something out.
Thompson has always been vocal about his desire to stay in the Bay area for the remainder of his career, and it would make too much sense at this point.
He could’ve been another team’s go-to-guy in the prime of his career, and chances are he could’ve even made more money somewhere else, but he always stood loyal to the Warriors.
The Splash Brothers and Draymond Green still believe they can win another championship together, and after all they’ve accomplished, it would be hard to bet against them, even if they’re no longer the strongest powerhouse in the league.
