It’s the dawn of a new era for the Carolina Panthers.
The team didn’t hesitate to take Bryce Young with the No. 1 pick, shutting down all the outside noise, doubts, and concerns about his size — or lack thereof.
And the Young era is now officially underway in Carolina, as the Alabama standout has taken his first snap as a member of the team during their rookie minicamp.

Young comes with high expectations after dominating in the SEC over the past couple of seasons.
His football IQ, brains, and ability to improvise and keep plays alive were second-to-none in the college football scene, but there were serious doubts about his ability to endure a full NFL season, as he’s one of the shortest QBs to enter the league.
Moreover, the Panthers’ front office has made it clear that they have no intention whatsoever of rushing things with their prized rookie.
They announced Andy Dalton would handle first-team reps and will be QB1 until further notice, meaning we might not get to see the No. 1 pick take the field to start the season.
Then again, and with all due respect to Dalton, it’s highly unlikely that Frank Reich decides to roll with him for long, especially if Young impresses in practice.
We’ve seen short quarterbacks thrive in the NFL multiple times in history, with Drew Brees being perhaps the biggest example, so there’s no reason to think Young can’t be the next big thing in the league, no pun intended.
