Draft day is a day in which dozens of young men see their biggest dreams come true, as they not only make it to the NFL but achieve financial freedom and generational wealth for themselves and their loved ones.
Sometimes, a player may not expect to get drafted at all, especially after waiting around until the second and third day of the draft and not hearing his name called, only to get that phone call from a team that lets him know they are about to take him.
Quarterback Brock Purdy got that call from the San Francisco 49ers just before the end of last year’s draft letting him know that even though he was about to become “Mr. Irrelevant,” they considered him pretty relevant.

Purdy became the last player chosen in the 2022 NFL Draft, and he started the season third on the 49ers’ depth chart behind Trey Lance and Jimmy Garoppolo.
But a couple of strokes of serendipity disguised as bad fortune paved the way for Purdy to prove his worth.
Lance went down with an ankle injury in Week 2 and Garoppolo suffered a foot injury in Week 13, and from that point on, Purdy played as well as almost any signal-caller in pro football.
His magic carpet ride ended early in the NFC Championship Game against the Philadelphia Eagles when he tore the UCL in his throwing elbow, and he may not be ready for Week 1 of the 2023 campaign.
But once he fully recovers, he may get himself and the 49ers back on that magic carpet, and it just may take them all the way to their sixth Vince Lombardi Trophy next winter.NEXT: The 49ers Are Re-Signing A Veteran WR
