The San Antonio Spurs are officially heading into a new era of their storied NBA franchise, with the team being lucky enough to win the NBA Draft Lottery, giving them the opportunity to draft French superstar Victor Wembanyama No. 1 overall in last week’s draft.
With the city of San Antonio ecstatic and Wembanyama anxious to get to know his new surroundings in Texas, the 19-year-old got a look at what will become a familiar view at AT&T Center next season and for the foreseeable future.
Wembanyama and fellow rookie Sidy Cissoko were able to visit the AT&T Center for the first time this week, with cameras flashing and smiles on the faces of the two promising young players, as shown on the team’s Twitter account.

Although Wembanyama would like to spend some time in San Antonio and get used to his new home floor at the AT&T Center, the team’s prized rookie won’t have much downtime as the team will soon head to Sacramento to participate in the California Classic.
At this point, it is uncertain how much Wembanyama will play in the NBA Summer League to follow in Las Vegas in July.
If he does participate, it would be safe to assume the team will be extremely careful with how many minutes he’s on the floor, as they don’t want to regret pushing him too hard too fast and risk injury ahead of the 2023-24 regular season, which will get underway in October.
