The Miami Dolphins‘ season hasn’t gone according to plan as they currently sit at 3-7 and have already seen their general manager get axed. Despite winning two of their last three games and showing plenty of fight in a dominant win over the Buffalo Bills last week, head coach Mike McDaniel could be on his way out as well.
In many ways, the season was lost as soon as star wide receiver Tyreek Hill blew out his knee in a Week 4 win over the New York Jets. Hill was working on putting together a bounce-back campaign after a disappointing injury-plagued 2024 season, but it was cut short, and his future is now in question.
Hill threw some kerosene on the fire on Friday after updating his Instagram account. According to his profile, his bio now simply says “unemployed,” which has many wondering whether he has played his last snap with the Dolphins or in the NFL in general.
Yikes: Dolphins star WR Tyreek Hill has changed his IG bio to “UNEMPLOYED” hinting that he has played his last snap in Miami…
Hill has also hinted at retirement, saying he wants to spend more time with his kids and pursue a career as a DJ. pic.twitter.com/5rD7d0A2Zh

Even though Dov Kleiman posted this with such concern about Hill’s future, it could be an overreaction. Hill changing his bio to “unemployed” is clearly a joke, as the Dallas Mavericks fired general manager Nico Harrison a few days ago, who then instantly changed his bio to say “unemployed” as well.
It’s a funny little rib, but there are legitimate questions about Hill’s future that won’t get answered until the offseason. Many believe the Dolphins could cut him in the offseason to usher in a rebuild, and it’s unclear whether or not Hill wants to continue playing football at all.
He flat-out said he isn’t sure yet about continuing his career, but if he does, there’s a real chance it won’t be with the Dolphins. That’s a question for another day, and for the time being, Hill is hopefully recovering and enjoying his unemployment.
