The Miami Dolphins entered Week 8 with a troubling 1-6 record, but head coach Mike McDaniel continues to back quarterback Tua Tagovailoa despite mounting struggles.
Tagovailoa has thrown three interceptions in back-to-back games and was benched late in Sunday’s blowout loss to the Cleveland Browns in favor of rookie Quinn Ewers.
Through seven weeks, he leads the NFL with 10 interceptions and six fumbles, raising legitimate concerns about ball security and decision-making under pressure.
McDaniel’s public support reflects the organization’s belief that Tagovailoa can still turn things around.
The quarterback himself remains confident and insists Miami is on the verge of breaking through despite the rocky start to the season.
“I wouldn’t say there is any losing of the confidence. I think the confidence comes from within, but also confidence comes from what you know you can do with what I’ve done in the past,” Tagovailoa said. “I think we’re this close. I think we are this close to being able to go out there and show what we’ve said we’ve wanted to do. We just gotta be able to put it all together.”

Miami’s offensive struggles extend beyond the quarterback position.
A struggling offensive line and key injuries have contributed to the team’s inability to find rhythm.
Tyreek Hill’s season-ending knee injury dealt a significant blow to the receiving corps.
Defensively, Miami has allowed the worst rushing numbers in the league, compounding the offensive issues and fueling speculation about McDaniel’s job security.
The combination of poor execution and roster setbacks has created serious questions about the team’s direction.
As the Dolphins prepare for a crucial matchup with the Falcons, Tagovailoa’s ability to respond under pressure will determine whether Miami can salvage its season or continue spiraling downward.
