Wednesday night was a memorable one for the New York Yankees as they trounced the Oakland Athletics by a final score of 11-0.
However, the story of the game was right-hander Domingo German, who tossed the first perfect game in Major League Baseball since Felix Hernandez did it for the Seattle Mariners back in 2012.
It had been 11 years since the most recent perfect game, but German and the Yankees broke that trend on Wednesday.
In fact, the Yankees made a little bit of history with their win.
11-0 is the largest margin in baseball history for a perfect game.
On Twitter, “Talkin’ Baseball” pointed out this interesting fact.

Perfect games are incredibly rare.
In addition, it’s incredibly rare that a perfect game is thrown when the score is what it was last night.
But the Yankees and German both made some interesting history on Wednesday with the latest perfecto.
German got 11 runs of support and managed to completely shut down the woeful Athletics as the Yankees evened their three-game series, setting up the opportunity for a series win on Thursday.
The right-hander even struck out nine batters in his bid for perfection.
German was the story of the game, but the wide margin in the score also made for quite an interesting storyline, as no perfect game had seen that wide of a margin in the score.
New York made sure to change that on Wednesday in Oakland, and it led to their 44th win of the season as they stayed 9.5 games out of first place.
