The drama surrounding Russell Westbrook and the Los Angeles Lakers has been going on for months now.
Even though the regular season is just a bit more than a month away, there haven’t been many developments about Westbrook leaving the team.
In fact, the only development about Westbrook and LA is that it looks like he is not leaving any time soon.
Brian Windhorst:
“Based on the executives I’m talking to, they believe that the Lakers have come to the conclusion that they’re not going to trade Westbrook now, because they don’t like any of their offers and they’re going to try and make the best of it and see what happens.” pic.twitter.com/lD6ihVH23s

Brian Windhorst summed up the situation succinctly:
“Based on the executives I’m talking to, they believe that the Lakers have come to the conclusion that they’re not going to trade Westbrook now, because they don’t like any of their offers and they’re going to try and make the best of it and see what happens.”
This latest tidbit from Windhorst won’t come as a surprise to anyone paying attention.
It’s become quite clear that the team has problems finding any suitors to take on Westbrook and his behemoth contract.
The Lakers will now “see what happens” – what does that mean for the troubled team?
Winning With Westbrook
It’s not surprising that the Lakers never got a deal for Westbrook that they liked: the man is coming off his worst season in the NBA and only crazy front offices would offer anything very appealing for him.
Therefore, the Lakers are essentially forced to move forward.
A few things could happen now.
Perhaps Westbrook gets it together and head coach Darvin Ham is able to compose a lineup and play style that gets him back on track.
Or maybe Westbrook will see limited minutes – or even be waived by LA.
There is still plenty of drama that could unfold with Westbrook and his team.
But those hoping for a monster trade that sends him elsewhere need to reel in their expectations.
