It may be hard to believe, but the Dallas Cowboys were once the NFL’s best team and somewhat worthy of their blustery nickname “America’s Team.”
A 10-part docuseries on the organization is upcoming, and the rights to the series have just been purchased by Netflix.
The series will focus on Cowboys owner Jerry Jones and how he built the team into a mini-dynasty in the 1990s, according to Front Office Sports.

In the 1970s, Dallas won two Super Bowls, but they fell on hard times by the mid-1980s, and they finished with an embarrassing 1-15 record during the 1989 season.
Then came the Herschel Walker trade during the campaign, which netted the Cowboys five players, but it also included six future draft picks, two of which turned into star running back Emmitt Smith and standout safety Darren Woodson.
Behind Smith, Woodson, quarterback Troy Aikman and wide receiver Michael Irvin, the team claimed three world championships between 1992 and 1995, resurrecting their old luster.
However, since that last Super Bowl victory, Dallas hasn’t gotten to the NFC Championship Game, and despite boasting one of the more talented teams in the NFL the last few years, every season has ended in disappointment for them.
The 2023 season, however, could end up being an improvement.
The Cowboys traded for wide receiver Brandin Cooks to give CeeDee Lamb a very good running mate, and they added cornerback Stephon Gilmore to a secondary that already included two-time Pro Bowler Trevon Diggs.
They could very well wrest control of the NFC East from the defending conference champion Philadelphia Eagles, who lost stars Miles Sanders and Javon Hargrave this offseason.
