The New England Patriots have found their way again. It took them much longer than expected, but, for the first time since Tom Brady fled Foxboro, this team feels like a legitimate Super Bowl contender.
The front office deserves credit for the way they put this roster together, shedding some of the final pieces left from the Bill Belichick era. However, head coach Mike Vrabel also deserves his flowers, and his players are well aware of that. That’s why, when asked about Vrabel’s coaching staff, Patriots veteran WR Stefon Diggs had an interesting choice of words:
“Patriots WR Stefon Diggs says Mike Vrabel’s coaching style is like ‘the perfect parent,'” Kyed posted on X.

While Diggs’ words should usually be taken with a grain of salt or not too seriously, he might have a valid point there. Vrabel is a former player; he was out there in the trenches like them, and he knows how to connect to the players. Of course, he’s also going to hold them accountable to the highest standard.
Team owner Robert Kraft made a judgment call in the offseason. Most owners would’ve given Jerod Mayo at least another year to show what he had, even though he refused to take accountability for any of his countless mistakes and constantly looked unprepared out there.
Kraft, instead, chose to pull the plug before it was too late to go with the guy he wanted to lead this team back to the top. So far, that gamble has paid off. The Patriots way is back, and it will be back for as long as Coach Vrabel is there.
