Heading into Week 5 of the 2023 NFL season, many figured the matchup between the San Francisco 49ers and Dallas Cowboys had the potential to be one of the best games of the year.
While it turned out great for the 49ers, things couldn’t have gone much worse for the Cowboys, who ended up suffering an embarrassing 42-10 loss to San Francisco in front of a national television audience on Sunday night.
Dallas quarterback Dak Prescott had a miserable performance, throwing for just 153 yards, one touchdown, and three interceptions.
On Monday, Hall of Fame tight end Shannon Sharpe shared why he wasn’t surprised by the play of Prescott on Sunday.
“Turnovers are in Dak’s DNA. [Cowboys owner] Jerry Jones tried to tell us for the last several years, ‘turning the football over isn’t what Dak is about.’ It is absolutely what he is about.”

Prescott and the Cowboys were coming off a manhandling 38-3 win over the New England Patriots in Week 4, so some assumed Dallas had the talent to hang with a team like San Francisco on Sunday.
But this clearly wasn’t the case.
The Cowboys were outperformed in almost every single way possible on Sunday, and they still have plenty to work on if they want to truly be a legitimate contender in the NFC this season.
Heading into Sunday, Prescott had only thrown one interception in Dallas’ four games this year, but he was clearly flustered by what the 49ers defense was showing him during the matchup.
This is just a game the Cowboys need to move on from and forget fast, as it got away from them, and it just ultimately snowballed into a disaster.
Dallas’ first opportunity to get back on track will be next Monday night when they travel to take on the Los Angeles Chargers.
