The Seattle Seahawks couldn’t keep their momentum going in Week 11. They struggled to get going against the Los Angeles Rams’ elite defensive front, and even though they managed to make it a close game, they lost the battle for first place in the NFC West.
Of course, it didn’t take long before people started blaming quarterback Sam Darnold, who threw four interceptions. With that in mind, Seahawks defender Ernest Jones sent a strong message to Darnold’s critics.
“Sam’s been balling. If we want to try to define Sam by this game, Sam has had us in every f****** game. For him to sit there and say it’s his fault, no, it’s not. There was plays that, defensively, we could have made plays. There were opportunities where we could’ve got better stops. He’s our quarterback. We got his back. If you got anything to say, quite frankly, f*** you,” Jones said.
Absolutely LOVE the way Seahawks LB Ernest Jones defended Sam Darnold following his 4-INT game:

That’s the type of support one would expect from a teammate, especially considering how well Darnold has played this season. He was going against one of the best teams in the league, and anybody can have a bad game against that defense.
That being said, it’s also easy to understand why people might have doubts about Darnold. He has a long history of meltdowns, especially in key games.
Even last season, when he finally broke out and looked like a legitimate star with the Minnesota Vikings, he had terrible games in the two biggest outings of the season. He deserves the benefit of the doubt, but history definitely isn’t on his side.
There’s plenty of football left to be played this season, and the Seahawks should continue to be among the best teams in the NFC. But after watching Darnold fail again while facing a Super Bowl contender, it might take much more than what he’s shown for him to change his reputation.
