Earlier this week, the New Orleans Saints brought in a few veteran players for a visit to address holes on both sides of the football.
The Saints brought in veteran running back Kareem Hunt and veteran linebacker Anthony Barr, with the team expected to sign both players, as they seemed to be the perfect fits for New Orleans.
For some reason, both former Pro Bowlers left New Orleans without a deal, with Hunt heading to the Indianapolis Colts for a visit and Barr hoping for a call from another team.
Not signing these talented veterans seemed like a missed opportunity for the Saints, as they would’ve made the team better overall, but it didn’t take long for New Orleans to find another option at linebacker.
According to NFL Insider Jordan Schultz, the Saints will sign one-time Pro Bowler Jaylon Smith, formerly of the New York Giants.

Although Barr is arguably the better player with a better track record during his NFL career due to all his success with the Minnesota Vikings, Smith is still a solid signing for the Saints, as he should make an impact on defense right away.
After spending some time with the Dallas Cowboys to start his professional career in the NFL, Smith has bounced around the league, especially during the 2021 season.
Smith played for the Cowboys, Green Bay Packers, and the Giants all in the same year during the 2021 campaign before spending all of 2022 in the Big Apple.
The 28-year-old will look to resurrect his career in New Orleans as part of a talented defense.
