Russell Wilson is coming off the worst season by far of his NFL career, and his opportunity for redemption will begin this weekend when his Denver Broncos host the Las Vegas Raiders.
There is hope in Denver because of the arrival of new head coach Sean Payton, who teamed up with the legendary Drew Brees to lead the New Orleans Saints to a Super Bowl championship a handful of years ago.
Payton has a reputation for speaking his mind without a big filter, and he recently made comments about Nathaniel Hackett, the Broncos’ head coach last season, that ruffled some feathers.
This week, he was at it again when he made a provocative comment about Wilson being preoccupied with his public image.
Ryan Clark seems to be wondering if something could be brewing between Wilson and Payton.
Bruh… This Sean Payton & Russell Wilson news is crazy. Dude is going all the way opposite of how anyone has treated Russ or even thought about him. If it works he’s a genius, & if it doesn’t… Well, never mind. It almost seems he hopes it doesn’t.

Wilson can try to craft a positive public image all he wants by working on his presentation, but in the end, if he wants to improve that image, there is only one real way to do so: make the Broncos into winners.
Last season, which was his first in Denver, was an unmitigated disaster for the organization.
It won just five games while being saddled with one of the worst offenses anyone could ever remember seeing, which even led some Broncos fans to hilariously apologize on social media about that poor offense.
There are already some dark clouds hanging over the team, as wide receiver Tim Patrick will be out for the whole season once again with a torn Achilles, while fellow wideout Jerry Jeudy is trying to work his way back from a hamstring injury.
