The Chicago Bears have won six games this season. It hasn’t always been easy, and it definitely hasn’t been pretty at times, but they’re a contender in the NFC North.
Caleb Williams has been up and down, but even at his lowest, his highlights have been mesmerizing. That’s why former NFL head coach Rex Ryan wanted to remind everyone of the type of player the quarterback is.
The ESPN analyst recently used two words to describe Williams.
“He’s a generational talent. I think people forget that. He’s a generational talent. Now you pair him with a heck of a football coach, he’s gonna keep climbing. When it’s all said and done, is this a playoff team? It kinda looks that way,” Ryan said.

Williams entered the NFL as one of the most heralded QB prospects in years. That makes it almost impossible to live up to the hype and the expectations.
He hadn’t played a single snap in the league, yet he was already being compared to Patrick Mahomes. After the Bears made him the No. 1 overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, his rookie season wasn’t good at all, and some were quick to write him off.
The Bears did the right thing by hiring Ben Johnson to be their head coach. He has a sharp offensive mind, and he’s also the type of leader who’s going to hold Williams accountable, even when things go well.
With improved coaching, a solid supporting cast, and a better offensive line, Williams can be special. It shows it’s never wise to give up on a player, especially a quarterback, that early in his career.
