The Los Angeles Rams are addressing ongoing inconsistency at the kicker position by bringing in outside competition.
Joshua Karty has struggled through the first half of the season, converting just 10 of 15 field goal attempts and 23 of 26 extra points.
Those missed opportunities have left the organization searching for answers at a position that requires reliability.
The Rams signed former UFL kicker Harrison Mevis to the practice squad this week.

Mevis built his reputation during his time at Missouri, where he delivered a 61-yard game-winning field goal against Kansas State two seasons ago.
That kick showcased the leg strength and composure under pressure that have defined his career.
His ability to perform in critical situations has drawn attention from multiple NFL organizations despite going undrafted.
During his collegiate career, Mevis set a Missouri program record with 12 successful field goals from 50 yards or beyond.
While his range was undeniable, accuracy remained an area of inconsistency throughout his college tenure.
After going undrafted in 2024, Mevis signed with the Carolina Panthers and participated in training camp before being released in August.
He then joined the UFL and posted strong numbers with the Birmingham Stallions before the New York Jets signed him in June.
Mevis was waived in August, added to the practice squad, and released again on September 16.
Karty now faces legitimate competition as the Rams search for long-term stability.
Whether Mevis earns the starting role in Los Angeles or elsewhere, his opportunity has arrived.
